Right, it’s officially summer. We don’t care what’s going on outside the window any more because at Perfect Day Bride, once we’ve had the longest day, it’s midsummer weddings for the win. But, we’re also realists and given the rather grey start we’ve had to the so-called sunshine season, we’re going to pack our metaphorical suitcases and look to Italy for our inspiration. This elegant and beautiful style will brighten any occasion, wherever you are.
Firstly, with a midsummer wedding, you really do need to be outside. Make the most of every minute of the long days with some al fresco dining or dancing. Get creative with the lighting, use fairylights and candles galore and then sit back and watch the whole atmosphere change as the sun goes down. We LOVE the central image here with the candles in all those different sized jars – totally doable!
Now, let’s talk gowns and colour palettes. We just can’t get of this super natural green and white/ivory combo and all the earthy additions looks amazing. The brides at the top of the feature are wearing one of our favourite designers, the incredible Jesus Peiro whose couture contemporary designs are so popular at Perfect Day Bride. The simple lines and organic perfect of these wedding dresses are wonderful for midsummer weddings or, indeed, at any time of year! Another top pick for this style would be Charlie Brear – flattering and super chic.
Now you absolutely have to go to town with your greenery for this Italian summer look and, happily, should it be a scorcher of a day, your flowers won’t wilt! The Italian style urns filled with olive branches is spot-on and you can always use more greenery to create table runners, place settings, table plans, buttonholes and more.
With midsummer weddings, you want your guests to be partying well into the night and we think serving up late night snacks is one of the best wedding ideas ever. Late night pizza, anti-pasti buffets or seasonal treats will all be very well received by hungry guests, eager to recharge before getting back on the dance floor and keeping the celebrations going into the early hours of the morning.
So, whilst relying on the perfect midsummer wedding might be a little tougher in England than Italy, there’s nothing to stop you living la vita estiva even if the weather isn’t always on your side!
