In all the excitement of planning the best day of your life, you may find it slipping your mind that you’re going to follow up that day with the holiday of a lifetime as well. So, whether you want a way to combat the onset of winter blues or take a break from the chaos of wedding planning, we think planning your honeymoon style and wardrobe is the perfect way to employ the grey matter for a little while. (And this has nothing to do with the fact that Laura has just come back from holiday and is suffering from a spate of wanderlust, honest…!)

When we started looking for inspiration, we assumed that you’re going to be honeymooning somewhere hot and sandy. If you’re one of those very chic girls who’s opted for a city break honeymoon or an intrepid adventurer who’s off to trek Peruvian mountains then you’re going to have to bear with us; this instalment is purely about long sunny days, mountains of paperback books and a never-ending supply of fruity cocktails!

When you start thinking about beachwear you might be surprised to see the huge range of styles that have come back into fashion lately. We found ourselves drawn to high waisted briefs in the style of 1950s beach babes, as well as interesting one piece bathing suits as well. If you’re not comfortable in a bandeau top and string pants anymore then this explosion of flattering styles might be more up your street.

Big sun hats are a sure fire way of adding glamour to even the hottest of afternoons! The wider the brim, the better as far as we’re concerned.

Just because you’re on holiday it doesn’t mean you have to slack on style. We suggest taking a swag of brilliant jewellery to accessorise up even the plainest of sundresses. We kept coming back to aquarmarine pieces and particularly chunky necklaces which just scream of vacay-stylishness. Think also of big cuffs, layered bracelets and cocktail rings. Stack midi rings along your fingers, both above and below the knuckle.

Also, don’t necessarily go for a wrap dress or kaftan as a beach cover up. You can use soft harem pants in bright, bold, slightly Aztec prints as an alternative and really stand out from those other idyllic newlyweds.

Wherever you’re going and however long you’re escaping for, we hope you have the most amazing time. There’s nothing quite like the two of you love birds, alone, enjoying the surroundings and each other’s company to properly digest the wonder of your wedding. Since you have such great taste in wedding dresses, we’re sure you’re going to look nothing short of spectacular when you hit the beach, but hopefully a few of these ideas will make their way into your suitcase too!
