Last weekend, we kicked February off with a bang as we welcomed lots of lovely brides to Perfect Day Bridal Rooms for Charlie Brear (formally The Vintage Dress Company) Designer Weekend.
For those of you brides-to-be with your fingers firmly on the pulse of bridal fashion, you may have recently seen The Vintage Wedding Dress Company featured in the March/April issue of Brides magazine, where their amazing ostrich feather overskirt was the highlight of a brilliant editorial feature. Well, our lucky Perfect Day brides had the opportunity to try on not only this beautifully stylish accessory, but the entire treasure chest of vintage gowns from the Charlie Brear Decades Collection.
We had a hectic two days playing dress up with our brides, all of whom have styles and taste as varied as the weddings they’re planning. The one thing that unifies them all though is exemplary taste, so it was no surprise that they wanted to shimmy into these delicious dresses!
There is no doubt that the cut of these dresses is absolutely sublime, which is imperative as trying to tailor authentic vintage gowns to contemporary body shapes is often a nightmare. These gowns take all the best bits of vintage inspiration and, thanks to founder, curator, stylist and designer Charlie Brear, make them wearable in the modern age.
For us though, the very best bit about The Vintage Wedding Dress Company collection is the styling additions that are available. Gone are the days of just picking a dress and shoes; it’s now all about creating a versatile wedding day look. As such, we had great fun at our Designer Weekend showing brides beautifully intricate jackets as a stylish cover up for traditional ceremonies or a daytime look, gorgeous sashes to add a hint of extra glamour to the big day look and of course, those stunning transformative overskirts that give you two looks for one day.
As always, we are incredibly grateful to our collaborators who helped contribute to a fully indulgent experience for Perfect Day brides over the weekend. From award-winning Kirsten Butler at The Little Wedding Helper who styled our windows in advance of the designer weekend to the lovely Trudy Mitchell from Jelly Cake who provided a vintage inspired dessert table for our guests to nibble on, and of course the company of the fabulous I-Design Jewellery, we couldn’t have asked for a more glamorous couple of days!
We’re thrilled that so many Perfect Day brides managed to find their dream dress and accessories during our Charlie Brear designer weekend , and we will take away some lovely memories, even the story of one beautiful bride that found her Perfect Dress and had a total melt down in the changing room (to which we all ended in tears!)….. it can sure be an emotional time!. If you’re still looking for ‘the one’, the Decades Collection might just have the answer for you, so get in touch to make an appointment today!
